Insurance in Cohasset, Massachusetts
Cohasset is our next-door neighbor. We’ve written insurance from our office on Whiting Street in Hingham since 1979, and Cohasset homes, cars and boats are a regular part of our work. We’re an independent agency a few minutes down Route 3A, not a call center. Call or email and we’ll set a time to sit down.
What our clients say.

Why an independent agency
We’re not tied to one insurance company. We work with many. When your renewal comes in higher than you expected, we shop it for you, and you don’t have to start over somewhere else.
A captive agent has one price to offer. We have several, and we do the comparing.
What we cover in Cohasset
Coastal home insurance
Cohasset is where insurance companies get particular. Homes on Jerusalem Road, Atlantic Avenue, around the harbor, Sandy Beach or Black Rock raise questions a website won’t ask:
- Wind and hurricane deductibles
- Distance to the water
- The age of the roof
- Whether you need a separate flood policy through the National Flood Insurance Program
Some companies won’t write within a set distance of the shore. Many others will, and we write coastal homes with a lot of them. We shop your house across them and bring you the choices. Read more: Why won’t anyone insure my coastal home?
If a house doesn’t fit any of them, there’s still the Massachusetts FAIR Plan (MPIUA). We write that too.
Home insurance in the village
Older homes around the Common, on Elm Street and off South Main have their own questions: antique construction, knob-and-tube wiring, an oil tank, a renovation the insurance company needs to know about. Replacement cost on a Cohasset home isn’t what an online estimator guesses. We run the numbers with you.
Boats
Sailboats and powerboats at the yacht club, the town moorings and the marina. A boat needs its own policy, separate from your homeowners. The right one depends on the boat’s size, where it’s moored and where it’s stored for the winter.
Auto insurance
Massachusetts auto insurance has its own rules: the state’s rating rules, the Safe Driver Insurance Plan, and the Registry paperwork when you buy or sell a car. Ask us before you sign anything at a dealership. We’ll tell you what the policy has to say and what the Registry will want. Our car-buying guide lists the paperwork and the order to do it in.
Umbrella
A million dollars of extra liability on top of your home, auto and boat costs less than most people think. If you have teen drivers, a pool, a dock or a boat, ask us.
Business insurance
For contractors, trades, restaurants, shops in the village and professional offices. General liability, property, workers’ compensation and commercial auto, plus the certificate of insurance your general contractor wants the same afternoon.
Life insurance
Term and permanent, for young families and for estate planning.
Everyday help
Most calls aren’t about buying a policy. They’re about:
- Certificates of insurance
- ID cards
- Proof of insurance for a lender before a closing
- Registry forms
- Claims, including after a nor’easter
We’ve been on the South Shore since 1979, so we already know your account when you call.
Towns we serve
Our office is in Hingham. We also cover the whole South Shore: Cohasset, Hull, Scituate, Norwell, Rockland, Weymouth, Hanover, Pembroke, Marshfield, Duxbury, Braintree and Quincy.
Questions we hear from Cohasset clients
Do you insure homes near the water in Cohasset?
Yes. Homes near the water are a big part of what we do. We shop them across several companies, including specialty insurers. If none of them fits, there’s the Massachusetts FAIR Plan.
Do I need flood insurance?
A home policy doesn’t cover flood. Near the water, your lender may require a flood policy. Even if it doesn’t, it’s worth a look. We can quote flood through the National Flood Insurance Program.
My renewal went up. Can you help?
Yes. Send us your renewal and we’ll shop it with the other companies we work with. You don’t have to start over anywhere.
How fast can I get a certificate or an ID card?
Usually the same day. Use our certificate request form, or email us.
Can I come to the office?
Yes, by appointment. We’re at 13 Whiting Street in Hingham, Monday to Friday, 9 to 3. Email or call and we’ll set a time.

Do you have enough coverage?
Ask yourself: if your insurance company issued a check for the coverage amount on your policy, would it be enough to rebuild your home and protect everything you’ve worked for?
- Check local construction costs. Materials and labor change over time. Make sure your coverage would fully rebuild your home today.
- Don’t forget flood coverage. Standard homeowners policies don’t cover floods, and flooding can happen outside flood zones too.
- Protect beyond the basics. An umbrella policy adds protection when a lawsuit or claim goes past your home or auto limits.
- Review and update when needed. Your policy should reflect your needs. If your limits are too low, we’ll help you explore your options.
We cannot make changes to your policy without your express consent.
