Insurance in Weymouth, Massachusetts

Weymouth is the next town west of our office on Whiting Street in Hingham, where we’ve written insurance since 1979. We’re an independent agency five minutes down Route 3A, not a call center. Call or email and we’ll set a time to sit down.

Why an independent agency

We’re not tied to one insurance company. We work with many. When your renewal comes in higher than you expected, we shop it for you, and you don’t have to start over somewhere else.

A captive agent has one price to offer. We have several, and we do the comparing.

What we cover in Weymouth

Home insurance

Weymouth has every kind of house on the South Shore:

  • Capes and ranches in East and South Weymouth
  • Two-families near the Landing and Jackson Square
  • Older homes in North Weymouth
  • New condos and townhouses at Union Point

Each brings its own questions: the age of the roof and wiring, an oil tank, a rental unit upstairs, the master policy on a condo. We know which insurance companies ask what. We insure your house for what it would really cost to rebuild, not what a website guesses.

Near the water

North Weymouth, Wessagusset, and the Fore River and Back River shores are coastal to an insurance company. The questions are the same as anywhere else on the South Shore: distance to the water, the wind deductible, and whether a company writes on your street. Read more: Why won’t anyone insure my coastal home?

Homeowners insurance doesn’t cover flooding. If you’re in a mapped flood zone and have a mortgage, your lender will require a separate flood policy. We write those too.

Auto insurance

Massachusetts auto insurance has its own rules: the state’s rating rules, the Safe Driver Insurance Plan, and the Registry paperwork when you buy or sell a car. With the dealerships along Route 18 and Route 3A, this comes up a lot. Ask us before you sign. Our car-buying guide lists the paperwork and the order to do it in.

Condo, two-family and renters

Condo owners often learn at claim time that the master policy covers less than they thought. We read the master deed with you. If you own a two-family and rent the other unit, the policy has to say so. Renters insurance for an apartment takes one phone call.

Umbrella

A million dollars of extra liability on top of your home and auto costs less than most people think. If you have teen drivers, a pool, a boat or a rental unit, ask us.

Business insurance

Weymouth is full of small businesses: contractors and trades, auto shops, restaurants, the shops along Route 18 and at Columbian Square, and offices at Union Point. General liability, property, workers’ compensation and commercial auto, plus the certificate of insurance your general contractor wants the same afternoon.

Boats

The marinas on the Fore River and the Back River, the yacht club, and the boats that winter in the driveway. A boat needs its own policy, separate from your homeowners.

Life insurance

Term and permanent, for young families and for estate planning.

Everyday help

Most calls aren’t about buying a policy. They’re about:

  • Certificates of insurance
  • ID cards
  • Proof of insurance for a lender before a closing
  • Registry forms
  • Claims

We’ve been on the South Shore since 1979, so we already know your account when you call.

Towns we serve

Our office is in Hingham. We also cover the whole South Shore: Weymouth, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Norwell, Rockland, Braintree, Quincy, Abington, Holbrook, Hanover and Marshfield.

Questions we hear from Weymouth clients

Do you insure two-families and condos?

Yes. We write two-family homes, condos and renters, and shop them across several companies.

Do I need flood insurance?

A home policy doesn’t cover flood. Near the water, your lender may require a flood policy. Even if it doesn’t, it’s worth a look. We can quote flood through the National Flood Insurance Program.

My renewal went up. Can you help?

Yes. Send us your renewal and we’ll shop it with the other companies we work with. You don’t have to start over anywhere.

How fast can I get a certificate or an ID card?

Usually the same day. Use our certificate request form, or email us.

Can I come to the office?

Yes, by appointment. We’re at 13 Whiting Street in Hingham, Monday to Friday, 9 to 3. Email or call and we’ll set a time.

What’s the best way to reach you?

Email is fastest: LawlessAgency@Gmail.com. You can also call 781-749-8386.
