Insurance in Hull, Massachusetts

Hull is our neighbor across the harbor. We have written insurance from an office on Whiting Street in Hingham since 1979, and Hull — a town that is nearly all shoreline — is the place where knowing which companies will write near the water matters most. Not a call center, not a franchise with a South Shore zip code: an independent agency a few minutes down George Washington Boulevard. If you want to sit down with someone about a policy, call or email and we’ll set a time.

What being independent means for you

We are not tied to one company. We represent a number of carriers, so when your renewal comes in higher than you expected, we can shop it without you starting over somewhere else. A captive agent has one price to offer you. We have several, and we do the comparing.

What we write in Hull

Coastal home insurance

From Pemberton to Kenberma to Allerton, almost every house in Hull is a coastal risk to an insurance company: the beach side of Nantasket Avenue, the bay side, the hill, the cottages that became year-round homes. The questions are the same everywhere in town — distance to the water, the age of the roof, the wind deductible, whether the standard companies will write on your street at all. We know which ones will, and we shop them. Read more: Why won’t anyone insure my coastal home?

The FAIR Plan

A good share of Hull is insured through the Massachusetts FAIR Plan (MPIUA), and there is nothing wrong with that. We write it every week, we know its rules, and we look at every FAIR Plan policy at renewal to see whether a standard company will take it back. The FAIR Plan, explained.

Flood insurance

Homeowners insurance does not cover the ocean coming in. Much of Hull is in a mapped flood zone, and if you have a mortgage your lender will require a flood policy. We write flood insurance and will tell you what your address requires.

Auto insurance

Massachusetts auto is its own world — the state’s rating rules, the Safe Driver Insurance Plan, and the registry paperwork that comes with buying or selling a car. Ask us before you sign anything at a dealership. What the registry wants.

Boats

Hull Yacht Club, the town moorings, Pemberton, the marinas on the bay side. A boat policy is separate from your homeowners, and the right one depends on the size of the boat, where it is moored and where it winters.

Condo and renters

Condo owners find out at claim time that the master policy covers less than they assumed; we read the master deed. Renters insurance for an apartment takes one phone call.

Umbrella

A million dollars of extra liability over your home, auto and boat costs less than most people guess. If you have teenage drivers, a boat or a rental unit, ask.

Business insurance

The restaurants and shops along Nantasket, contractors, marine trades. General liability, property, workers’ compensation, commercial auto, and the certificates of insurance somebody wants the same afternoon.

Life insurance

Term and permanent, for young families and for estate planning.

The part people actually call us about

Certificates, ID cards, a lender needing proof of insurance before a closing, a registry form, a claim after a nor’easter. The service, not the sale. That is what forty-seven years on the South Shore buys you: we already know your account when you call.

Towns we serve

Our office is in Hingham. We also write throughout the South Shore: Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Weymouth, Norwell, Rockland, Hanover, Marshfield, Duxbury, Braintree and Quincy.
