Insurance in Norwell, Massachusetts
Norwell is one town over from our office on Whiting Street in Hingham, where we’ve written insurance since 1979. We’re an independent agency ten minutes down Route 228, not a call center. Call or email and we’ll set a time to sit down.

Why an independent agency
We’re not tied to one insurance company. We work with many. When your renewal comes in higher than you expected, we shop it for you, and you don’t have to start over somewhere else.
A captive agent has one price to offer. We have several, and we do the comparing.
What we cover in Norwell
Home insurance
Norwell has larger homes on larger lots: colonials and capes on the wooded roads off Main Street, newer houses in the subdivisions, and antique homes around the Common and along River Street.
Here the questions are more about value and detail than about the ocean:
- Replacement cost, which online estimators often get wrong by a wide margin
- Finished basements
- Outbuildings, a pool or a barn
- The age of the roof and the heating system
We run the numbers with you and insure the house for what it would really cost to rebuild.
Along the North River
Homes near the river and the marshes can be in a mapped flood zone, even miles from the ocean. Homeowners insurance doesn’t cover a river coming in. That needs a separate flood policy, and if you have a mortgage, your lender may require one. We write flood and will tell you what your address needs.
Auto insurance
Massachusetts auto insurance has its own rules: the state’s rating rules, the Safe Driver Insurance Plan, and the Registry paperwork when you buy or sell a car. Ask us before you sign anything at a dealership. Our car-buying guide lists the paperwork and the order to do it in.
Umbrella
A million dollars of extra liability on top of your home and auto costs less than most people think. Norwell households often have exactly what an umbrella is for: teen drivers, a pool, a boat at a club down the road, a rental property somewhere.
Condo and renters
Condo owners often learn at claim time that the master policy covers less than they thought. We read the master deed with you. Renters insurance for an apartment is inexpensive and takes one phone call.
Business insurance
For the businesses along Route 53 and at Assinippi, medical and professional offices, contractors, landscapers and trades. General liability, property, workers’ compensation and commercial auto, plus the certificate of insurance someone wants the same afternoon.
Life insurance
Term and permanent, for young families and for estate planning.
Everyday help
Most calls aren’t about buying a policy. They’re about:
- Certificates of insurance
- ID cards
- Proof of insurance for a lender before a closing
- Registry forms
- Claims
We’ve been on the South Shore since 1979, so we already know your account when you call.

Questions we hear from Norwell clients
Do you insure older homes in Norwell?
Yes. Older homes often don’t fit an online quote form. We shop them across several companies until one fits.
My house is near the river. Do I need flood insurance?
A home policy doesn’t cover flood. Your lender may require a flood policy. Even if it doesn’t, it’s worth a look. We can quote flood through the National Flood Insurance Program.
My renewal went up. Can you help?
Yes. Send us your renewal and we’ll shop it with the other companies we work with. You don’t have to start over anywhere.
How fast can I get a certificate or an ID card?
Usually the same day. Use our certificate request form, or email us.
Can I come to the office?
Yes, by appointment. We’re at 13 Whiting Street in Hingham, Monday to Friday, 9 to 3. Email or call and we’ll set a time.
What’s the best way to reach you?

Do you have enough coverage?
Ask yourself: if your insurance company issued a check for the coverage amount on your policy, would it be enough to rebuild your home and protect everything you’ve worked for?
- Check local construction costs. Materials and labor change over time. Make sure your coverage would fully rebuild your home today.
- Don’t forget flood coverage. Standard homeowners policies don’t cover floods, and flooding can happen outside flood zones too.
- Protect beyond the basics. An umbrella policy adds protection when a lawsuit or claim goes past your home or auto limits.
- Review and update when needed. Your policy should reflect your needs. If your limits are too low, we’ll help you explore your options.
We cannot make changes to your policy without your express consent.
